What do we know about the deposit system?

Commissioned by RLG POLSKA and in cooperation with Who Will Save The Planet, we have carried out a qualitative and quantitative study which shows that:

– 71% of respondents are ‘confused’ about how the deposit system will work

– Three-quarters of Poles admit that it is easier for them to throw away returnable packaging (which they have paid for) than its coin equivalent. This shows that people still do not fully realise that discarded packaging covered by the deposit system is a waste of their money.

–  (44%) of people know that in order to return the packaging and get their deposit back, they will NOT have to present proof of purchase at the point of return. One in four has the wrong idea about this (23%)

We already have a positive opinion of the new system – 96% of the people who took part in the pilot of the deposit system have a positive opinion of the experience, and over 70% of them have made returns 2 or more times.
